On 10th of August 2022, the President of YMCA Karpaty Ukraine  – Mrs. Olga Solomychuk and president of YMCA Moldova – Mr. Dumitru Roibu together with 2 Moldavian young leaders – Nicolae and Andrian – visited the YMCA office in Baia Mare where Alina Pop – The National General Secretary of YMCA Romania who share the programs run by local member organizations and the projects implemented by the National Office.

The leaders exchanged ideas about possible future collaborations on youthwork , human resources development, youth empowerment programs for young people.

They have visited the ROUA Community Center , talked with the Romanian and Ukrainian colleagues who work at front desk about all the services , with YMCA youth workers and with the preteens and teenagers from the Day Care Program.

They shared the activities done for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova and Romania as well the internally displaced people hosted in Verkhovena, Ukraine.

The teenagers asked the guests to stay and listed the presentation they have prepared about their culture , emphasizing their most famous poets, musicians, statues, touristic places, being proud of who they are as Ukrainian citizens.

Alina, Olga and Dima discussed about different programs to continue collaboration and strengthen organizational capacity of the 3 YMCAs.

ROUA Community Center is a safe space that offers integrated services and activities for all age groups, co-created by a Coalition formed by the DEIS Association, YMCA Romania, YMCA Baia Mare, Rotaract Baia Mare, City Makers, the Association of Social Entrepreneurs of the North West , the Somaschi Volunteer Foundation, the Reinvent Association and the Ukrainian community temporarily established in Baia Mare, with the financial support of the Disaster Emergency Committee through ActionAid, co-financed by YMCA Europe, FONSS, with support from ARC and the Romanian Youth Council.
