The team of young people representing YMCA Romania in the youth exchange In or Out project held in the summer of 2024 in Netherland by our partner organization Olde Vechte, organized during the camp season of YMCA Baia Mare dissemination activities. The team adapted adapted and implemented key activities from “In or Out” into various local programs and events. The project is co-funded by Erasmus Plus Program.

Here are some examples of activities run by the YMCA Baia Mare volunteers, participants on the youth exchange program:

1.Sleep-Away Summer Camps (August 2024)
• Adapted Elements:
• Implemented the chore chart to help manage camp responsibilities more efficiently.
• Introduced the family-system to foster a support network among volunteers.
• Impact:
• The chore chart significantly improved organization and cooperation within the camp.
• The family-system strengthened connections among volunteers, creating a more inclusive and supportive environment.

2. Leadership Academy – Team Building & Facilitation Training

• Activity: Volunteers participated in a six-hour adventure in rural Romania, specifically Curtuiusul Mare, where they had to complete various challenges designed to enhance teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Challenges Included:
• Asking someone for a ride in their tractor.
• Assisting a local family with household chores.
• Frying an egg in someone’s home (activity inspired by “In or Out” specifically).
IMPACT:
• Strengthened leadership, adaptability, and collaboration skills among participants.

3. Excursion& Games for Kids in Camp
• Activities Adapted from “In or Out”:
• River Crossing – A strategic and cooperative game.
• Hutututu – A dynamic and engaging group activity.
• Implementation: These activities were integrated into an outdoor excursion, encouraging teamwork and physical engagement.

Challenges & Reflections
• The initial main activity planned for implementation could not take place due to time constraints and the lack of additional facilitators.
• Despite this, I managed to incorporate several elements from “In or Out” into ongoing projects at YMCA Baia Mare, ensuring the project’s impact was still realized.
• The adapted activities have been well-received by both volunteers and participants, contributing to a more structured and engaging learning environment.
