We are pleased to say that last wednesday at 17h our international volunteers have held a World Café event at the Log Out in Baia Mare.
This event had the purpose of sharing ideas about climate change and to contribute with what we think could be solutions to this problem. The YMCA’s Green Club will reflect on the ideas shared by our participants and do their best to see how to apply them in Baia Mare.
Antonio, Marina, Margarida and Sini, our international volunteers, sat in four different tables facilitating the discussion on four different questions:
_How can YOU prevent climate change and contribute to sustainable development?
_How can COMPANIES prevent climate change and contribute to sustainable development?
_How can the CITY prevent climate change and contribute to sustainable development?
_How can SCHOOLS prevent climate change and contribute to sustainable development?
To the first question, participants thought about their own personal habits and attitudes and how they could change them, from simple things as in turning the water off when its not being used and planning your meals to planning campaigns or participating in demonstrations. Throughout the other three questions, the participants had truly interesting contributions concerning the usage of renewable energy, partnerships between different institutions / companies / youth associations and how laws and taxed could be applied differently, among others.
It was truly rewarding to see all the participants in an offline activity and we hope to collaborate with these young people in the future again.
